Water Seal Shade Sails by Pattons

29th July 2010

Pattons have developed yet another product that is unique in the shade sail, awnings and blinds market. With the development of Water Seal Shade Sails, Pattons had provided a solution to home owners that cafes and restaurants have enjoyed for years. "We are seeing a real trend in our domestic clients bringing features they love at their favorite café or restaurant back to their own homes. Our industry setting standard café blinds, or clear blinds as we call them, pioneered this trend and now we are seeing our awnings and our waterproof shade sails filter into this market" said Daniel Halse, the managing director of Pattons. The ability to move between indoor and outdoor entertainment areas in all weather is the reason these sail have increased in popularity. The seamless integration of indoor/outdoor living space has grown in both home renovations and new constructions.

Restaurants and cafes have increased their dining areas by investing in quality awnings and blinds that provide a weatherproof seal from the shop front out over the pavement or over courtyard areas. This additional floor space allows for more customers and thus more revenue. People are finding that by bring this same principle into their own homes it allows for greater use of their limited space. "We are seeing a lot of people in units with court yards maximizing their living areas by the addition of our water seal shade sails," said Daniel.

The main feature of these waterproof PVC shade sails when compared to more traditional sails is the water tight seal along the wall which prevents rain coming in over doors. This allows Pattons clients to use their courtyards and patios in the rain. Which has the advantages and benefits that additional living space gives in winter, and conversely, it is the ability in summer to have the doors open for airflow on those hot days and nights when it is raining that surprises Pattons clients.

ACASPA 2010

31st May 2010

Industry leaders and fabricators alike joined together for ACASPA's 2010 annual exhibition on the Gold Coast in Queensland.  The event was held over a 3 day period and Pattons used this opportunity to further enhance its knowledge of neW products, manufacturing techniques and processes.

Pattons were very privileged to attend this year's exhibition and was also very honoured to have three of its younger team members entered into this year's Young Achievers category for excellence in the industry. Max Hayman, Thomas Dunworth and Kevin Harrington were all stand out entries in their field and produced work of superior quality and finish. The event was topped off as a special night for the entire Pattons team as our very own Kevin Harrington scooped the first Young Achiever Award of ACASPA so far.

Kevin said, "I am very proud to be taking this award back to Pattons with me, the guys here have been a pleasure to work with and I can only hope that they continue to support me and the other guys for the future as we plan to get many more awards over the coming years."

Tom Gastin, Managing Director of Pattons commented, "we are very proud of Kevin, he has shown great commitment and determination to his work this year and has a great attitude to continually improve his work. He is a valued member of our team and we are very happy that this award has gone to him, he defiantly deserves it. Well done Kev."

As a forward thinking company, Pattons recognises the need to help develop our younger talent, we entrust our employees to think outside the box, use their unique qualities to manage projects and to deliver stunning results. The future is in their hands and the sooner we embrace this underutilized skill source, the more dynamic this industry will become.

NEW AND IMPROVED WEBSITE

27th May 2010

Pattons Awnings have recently upgraded its website in an attempt to promote and showcase different types of high quality products and solutions as well as giving you a better understanding into the foundation and history of Pattons. Our experienced team of dedicated specialists have produced a wide array of custom made fabric constructions in recent years and continue to lead the way for custom made fabric solutions.

"Pattons has experienced rapid growth in recent years and as a result, our branding strategy is becoming more streamlined and is now recognized as one of the leading providers in quality custom made fabric solution in Australia. Our objective is to produce high quality products for discerning clients. Due to the fact consumer demand is increasing so too is the need to obtain information. Because our market is a specialist industry, informing people about our offerings in the past has been a limitation to expansion. Therefore, this new and improved web site will provide a platform for which we can communicate information to clients in a much more visual and professional manor, giving you a true idea of how Pattons can assist with your outdoor lifestyle.

Pattons manufacture all aspects of its products and limit the use of sub contractors and third parties to ensure the high standards expected are maintained. Our product portfolio includes awnings, internal and external blinds, shade sails, waterproof sails, clear blinds, theatrical cloth & large scale cloths, commercial tenders and a variety of customer made boat covers. Pattons staff are experienced in a broad range of fabric construction, leading to greater choice tailored to the individuals requirements.

"Many of our clients come to us after being told by other companies that their particular requirements cannot be met. Our staff come from a broad range of backgrounds and there is no problem our team cannot solve with a fabric solution. We combine an outside the box approach to many projects and bring together our team's variety of skills to provide the most appropriate solution to the individuals needs." Daniel Halse - Managing Director of Pattons Awnings.

55 years young

20th July 2008

This year Pattons celebrates 55 years in the fabric manufacturing business. Known for high quality long lasting work, this locally owned business still operates from the same location at Kirribilli on Sydney Harbour. The business has only changed hands three times and now offers more in its range than ever before. Pattons is regarded as a leader in the custom fabric goods manufacturing industry; setting trends rather than following them. Pattons long history in the marine sector has lead to a crossing over of materials, techniques and methods of construction. Pattons was possibly the first company to use specialised marine clear PVC's  on its clear PVC roll blinds, often referred to as cafe or bistro blinds. Managing Director, Daniel explains, "Using marine clear and zips is ideal for a water front location as the same conditions exist as on our boat covers. The salt, high winds and exposure to UV light quickly fouls other clears. The clarity of our clear PVC blinds is unsurpassed when compared years later."

The current owners have brought with them a wealth of large scale theatrical cloth experience, which when combined with the marine element  produces award winning residential awnings, shade cloths, waterproof sails, custom external/internal blinds, and upholstery. "Pattons has grown considerable in recent years in terms of floor space and product range. This is largely due to our gathering of qualified specialist in different fields which are able to work on all the different ‘things' we are able to manufacture. There is nothing we can not do," Daniel boasts.

Pattons have had exposure to such a vast array of fabric products in various applications that they are often able to offer their clients several options that fit their particular situation that the competitors do not. ‘Custom made' does not mean expansive. "Often the best solution for a outdoor dinning area, for example, is a relatively inexpensive one, a removable privacy screen perhaps," Daniel notes. Once the requirements of their clients are investigated and the area is assessed Pattons are able to offer the best installation. Pattons do not sell products, but rather solutions to problems, solved with fabric.

A loyal customer base continues to grow for this custom fabric manufacturer as their range expands. A fantastic new, easy to navigate web site www.pattons.com.au has examples of the vast array of fabric goods this local team has made. Pattons is almost your one-stop-shop for quality shade and waterproof sails, cafe blinds, outdoor upholstery, theatrical cloths, awnings outdoor blinds. They can even put all manor of covers on your boat.

Pattons specialise in providing the most appropriate solution to your fabric needs and their long history is your guarantee of the highest quality workmanship and customer service. Drop down to their boat shed, give them a call or visit the web site if you are thinking of any type of fabric construction.
